Interview with Mallory Fournier, Civil Design Engineer
Posted: June 18, 2025
Tell us about yourself and your role at Revamp.
Hello, I'm Mallory Fournier, and I'm a Civil Designer. I'm based out of Detroit, Michigan, and I've been with Revamp for about two and half years.
What initially drew you to Revamp?
What brought me to Revamp was the culture. I felt like it was the best environment for me to keep learning and improve my engineering skills. One of my favorite things about Revamp is how serious Revamp is about renewables.
Can you share a moment at Revamp when you felt especially seen or valued as a member of the LGBTQ+ community?
Coming out as transgender, the warm reception that I felt from the civil team and their efforts in switching my pronouns and my name for me made me feel very welcomed. Being openly welcomed in women's spaces, as well, is something that has brought me a lot of joy and has made me feel like a part of the community here.
What does Pride Month mean to you personally, and how do you see it reflected or evolving within the workplace?
Pride Month, to me, is a celebration and an act of protest. Being a transgender woman, my existence has become a political issue, and as scary as the political landscape can look and feel in the current day, being authentic to myself and expressing that for others to see is a celebration of my existence and perseverance. I'd also love to see those who see themselves as allies to learn, listen, acknowledge, and to celebrate their queer co-workers.
If you could tell your younger professional self one thing about navigating the workplace as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, what would it be?
You have value at every step of you becoming your authentic self, even if that means being closeted until you feel like you're in a safe place to come out. The world can be scary, but there are lots of allies out there in the engineering world, and the joy and liberation you will feel when you can be yourself is worth it when you're ready.
On behalf of Revamp, Happy Pride!
